You might hit the bottom, you might not, but you probably will. If you're strong, if you're resilient, you start kicking your way back through it all to the top.

You learn to breathe for yourself for the first time. You learn to float on your own. You feel frantic and lost at first, not sure if you're doing it right. But eventually you get the hang of it.

You learn to tread the waters, calm or not.

You learn to tread the waters, if nothing more.

But you always feel the weightlessness of that missing anchor⚓
